We are now well into January and we are ready for our second stoRy of this year. Today, we are speaking about Skärholmen. In the meantime, have a look at our anniversary contest! There is still time for you to join it. Find out more information here.

Skärholmen is located in the district with the same name in the south-western part of Stockholm. The station was opened in March 1967 and it severs the red T13 line in the subway system of the Swedish capital.

Vårberg (towards Norsborg) and Sätra (towards Ropsen) are the neighboring stations and a bit more than 13.000 passengers pass by Skärholmen on a regular weekday. The station has two tickets hall, each of them with its own entrance. There is a large platform and two tracks along side it. Nearby, there is also Skärholmen bus terminal.

The artistic decorations were made by Ulf Wahlberg under the name “A place in New Mexico”. The 23 2×4 meters photographs depict a sandy landscape during 24 hours, from sunrise to sunset. The project was ready in 1990. The original pictures were replaced with reproductions in 2005.

Skärholmen subway station is situated at 5 meters below ground level and the pictures created by Wahlberg makes you wonder around the station, to catch the end of the stoRy.
