Stockholm Open 2016

Don’t let the autumn weather fool you! Stockholm is full of interesting events all year round. And today we are talking about one sport event which is always making the list of the sports fans – the Stockholm Open.

If Stockholm Open, as it’s nowadays the official title, represents a tennis competition within the ATP World Tour 250 series. Its first edition took place almost 50 years ago, in 1969 and the games are played inside Kungliga tennishallen.

In the first years of the 1990s the Stockholm Open had some editions played inside the Ericsson Globen Arena. Also, in the mid 1970s there was a women competition too. Both for singles and doubles. But it was soon discontinued.

The last year’s winner on the singles’ side was Tomáš Berdych from the Czech Republic, while for the doubles’ side we had Eric Butorac from the United States of America and Raven Klaasen from South Africa. This year the prize money is more than 635.000 euros.

The competition will be taking place between 17th and 23rd of October, the whole next week. By joining this wonderful event you’ll be able to see live important names from the ATP, such as: Gael Monfils, Lucas Pouille or Juan Manuel del Potro.
